BIKE TRAIL MAP

Designed to increase connectivity and promote livable communities.

Stakeholder Engagement • Geospatial Analysis •

Data Visualization • Project Planning

For Niagara Greenway Commission (NGC), our team provided data collection and mapping services to support the first phase of a plan for regional trail systems which will ensure the sustainability of Western New York’s public spaces. A regional bike map, like this, has not been available for the community in over a decade and is being used as a tool to identify opportunity areas for new bicycle trails to increase connectivity and ultimately promote livable communities. For this effort, geospatial data was collected (and digitized) from Erie and Niagara county stakeholders such as Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transit Council (GBNRTC), GoBike, the cycling community, and local multi-use trail organizations. PHC worked closely with the stakeholders and NGC project team to design a geodatabase schema that eased the development of a standardized database of trails – allowing users to quickly classify and visualize the bike trails in the study area based on end-user requirements. A community mapping tool will be developed for future data collection and maintenance efforts throughout the region in subsequent phases.

Prospect Hill sorted out and prioritized a wide range of disparate user group priorities, in a very professional manner to create a fabulous map, which everyone is very excited about. The team’s extensive knowledge and expertise with group communication skills and diligent efficiency which makes them an ideal resource for project like this.
